Jessica yawned and stretched out her entire body, falling back flat against her twin sized mattress with yellow sheets. She rubbed her eyes and slowly began pushing off the covers. She swung her legs out and settled her feet on the floor, but she stayed seated, trying to wake up just a bit more before she trekked to the bathroom. It was nine in the morning, pretty early for Jess, but she had agreed to meet Annabel for coffee around ten thirty. She and Annabel had recently become close friends, even though Annabel was a bit older. Jessica felt like she could tell her anything, something she hadn’t felt about a person in a long time. She was almost like the sister she never had, since Sarah royally screwed her over more than once.
She took a deep breath and stood up, heading straight for the bathroom. When she got there she stared at her reflection in the mirror blankly. She pulled up the crazy mess of brunette hair on her head and let it fall heavily down her back. Jess flipped on the hot water in the shower and let it run before stripping down and stepping in. The hot water was like a jolt to her still half asleep senses. She stood up straight and washed her hair, her body and face. Reluctantly she turned the water off and grabbed her towel. First, she flipped her head over and dried her hair the best she could before toweling off the rest of her body. With the towel still wrapped around her body she headed to her closet to decide on an outfit.
After a long debate she pulled out a yellow halter top with black flower embroidery at the top, a pair of heavily stitched shorts and black flip flops decorated with a flower on the outside. She scanned her outfit in the full length mirror on her closet door; feeling satisfied with her look she made her way to the bathroom. Where she pulled out her make- up bag and began to apply eyeliner, mascara and lip gloss. After that she applied some anti-frizz spray to her long hair and scrutinized her face in the mirror once again. Happy, she walked to the bedroom door, giving her reflection one last look she smiled and headed down the hall. She explained to her mom she was going to get coffee with Annabel and grabbed the keys to the black 2007 Nissan Altima that was her very own. The car roared to life when she turned the key and music from the hit station began playing. She changed it to a rock station and backed out of the driveway.
After about a four minute drive she slowly pulled into the parking lot of the coffee house/ bookstore. She parked and killed the engine. Grabbing her keys as she stepped out of the open car door and into the slowly warming morning, she made her way to the door and stepped into the coffee house, cold air hit her as she was filled with the smell of coffee beans. She got in line and slowly made her way to the counter to order her usual mocha cappuccino, and after waiting a short time, it was delivered. She made her way to one of the round tables and sat to wait for Annabel to arrive. Jessica checked her watch; it was only ten twenty, so she was just a bit early. That was how Jessica was, punctual, almost always early, rarely late.
